I am completely new to Sonar. I recently bought a vocal mic for doing some voice overs for a film I'm involved in, It was suggested I use Sonar LE. I have also been given Voxengo plugins, but they are not turning up in the right place, I'm unable to see them in Sonar. Must they be installed to a specific folder. My nephew has these installed and can't tell me why they are not working, so I'm at a loss. If anyone can help, please ask any questions and I'll do my best to reply.

They can be installed anywhere but the plug-in dlls need to be in the VST scan path. The VST scan path can be viewed and modified in Cakewalk Plug-in Manager VST Configuration "Options" button. After either moving the dlls into the existing scan path or modifying the scan path to include the plug-in locations, run the VST scanner to pick up the changes.

Hi Steve. That hasn't worked, Sonar still doesn't see the dll files. I'm using Sonar LE. Although I have 64bit machine I'm guessing Sonar LE is only 32bit. There's something I'm missing. Plus I'm unable to see a Cakewalk Plugin Manager VST configuration anywhere in Options. I do have an external app in the folder c:\programs (86)cakewalk\Cakewalk VST Adapterz\vstconfig.exe but this seems to not make any difference.

There are several versions of SONAR LE and the location of the VST options in the SONAR setup depend on the version but the options are also visible in the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager. The "Options" button I was talking about is near the center bottom of the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager dialog.
 
I am not in the UK and have never been.

This is Cakewalk Sonar LE version 4.0.1 I don't think this version has a Plugin Manager, Its not where you say it is. Maybe this is just too cheap a package and it won't let me install more plugins. I can't get them to work.
 
If you've never been don't bother just now its to wet, if your anywhere warm stay there.

Welcome to the forum.
SONAR 4 is old and probably does not have native VST support, which is why you need the VST adapter. And that may not work on a 64-bit machine.
I see that you are doing voice-overs but it still may be a good investment to purchase a newer recording software, like Cakewalk's Music Creator 6 or MC 6 Touch (about 49 USD), or even SONAR X3 so modern VST instruments and effects can be used. 

In older version of SONAR, the plug-in manger would be located in the Tools menu, newer versions renamed the Tools menu to Utilities. If this version is old enough not to have native VST support and it sounds like it my be relying on the FXpansion VST adapter, it may well have trouble running properly on a 64bit machine.

This makes sense, typical. I need a more modern version.

Would the SONAR X1 LE from Cakewalk do the job. 
 
All I need to do is put vocals over a music track nothing more. Then clean up the vocals so it sounds like a radio show.
