Just purchased new computer with Windows 8.1 64bit. So far so good. This also coincides with wanting to upgrade from X2 to X3 (Producer). Questions: 1.Will my account be 'recognized' with new PC and new ops system? 2. Do I keep my current MP3 encoder? 3. Will backed up files from external drive jive with new projects (previous PC Win7 64bit, X2 Producer).
I'm assuming from research and getting my head around Windows 8 all should be well but thought I would check with users first. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Your account is based on your email address and a password. The computer has nothing to do with it.

You should not have any trouble with your projects.  If its the MP3 encoder from CW and you paid for it yes it will work. You may need to reauthorize it though

Your questions are exactly why I am so recalcitrant to upgrade anything until I absolutely have to.  People generally laugh at me when I post, because I am still running X1 under XP sp3 with 4 gigs of ram, but the truth is that the setup I have right now does exactly what I want it to do with no screwing around trying to figure out why things won't work.   I only have to screw around trying to figure out what in the world I am doing musically and how to get that to come out like I want in the final mix.

That said, when my harddrive or mobo fails in the future, I am going to move to Windows 9, upgrade to Sonar X5, buy 32 gigs of RAM, get a quantum effect CPU processor.  Then I'll spend the month-long process to get everything back like it was.  I'll probably drink a lot.

I'm not laughing.  I only upgraded from XP to W7 just over a year ago and it didn't go smoothly.

That's not fair! You should have to do this every year like the rest of us ;-)

At least you get to drink a lot - so all is not lost.... ;-)

The only problem with that plan TimeKing is at that point you will be severely under powered.  We will have moved on to nuclear powered 100 core 1000 terabyte computers with mind control.
