Just noticed that Softube dropped their custom installer and now use Gobbler. No longer need to install every plugin.

Weren't all the Slate user's complaining about Gobbler?
My experiences with Gobbler don't leave me enthused about this news...

I had some initial issues with Gobbler connecting on startup, but those seem to have disappeared after I changed the startup to "Automatic (Delayed Start)".

Really don't like Gobbler the way many here don't like PACE or iLock.
I'm rather disappointed that rather than fix their installer they take this approach.
Just glad that I'm not heavily invested in their plugins.

While you must create a Gobbler/Softube account, the installers are available from the account without using the Gobbler app.

The new Continuum update looks like it's going to be really good. I'm hopeful more developers move to that.

Thanks Scook.  You reply matches the email I received this morning.

Hi Steven,

This is David at the Softube Support. Thanks for reaching out!

I can certainly understand the feeling about getting yet another system. We've actually teamed up with Gobbler to give our users an easy and efficient workflow when it comes to downloading and managing licenses and installers. We also wanted to solve a lot of other (very justified) complaints we've had from our users. For example the clunky install process where users had to download the entire 1,2 GB installer just for, say, getting a new module for Modular.

Installation and activation is now taken care of through the Gobbler App. License management is now taken care of in the background.

All your licenses are still iLok under the hood though, and in that sense, everything is just like before.

However, if you absolutely don't want to use the Gobbler App, you can still get our plug-ins by downloading separate installers from our website and manage the licensing bit in the iLok License Manager app. Separate installers are available here: https://www.softube.com/index.php?id=mydownloads. To access this page, you will need a Softube/Gobbler account though.

I hope this answers some of your thoughts and concerns.

If not, please let me know!

Thanks for the support!

I would never trust Gobbler again. Remember when they warned all Windows users to download their data by a certain date because they were closing it down and concentrating on OSX? And when I heard that, I'd been struggling with Gobbler's software anyway. It was horribly unreliable and kept silently logging me out and leaving me without backups.

I don't know, maybe you can trust them with something like update delivery. I certainly wouldn't trust them with my own personal data though.

So their installers are still available? Do these installer enable you to use Softube without PACE or iLok then?

I like the installers from XLN and Cake.

Not that I can afford, but I've had the Softube PrioChannels off limits because of this, and Heartbeat has appealed from it's first release.
