  • What happened to Glennbo? (p.2)

Yeah - I figured it was something like that.

I looked at some of his posts and saw some glimmers of dissatisfaction with the forum software, but that was about it - everything else was about various tunes and such.

Well TOS agreements are in place for good reasons, and this forum IS run and managed by the vendors - who are pretty lenient and patient when it comes to rants, and even about posts discussing competitive products.

I do recall some folks snapping when X1's massive redesign came into being.

Lots of those same folks began to appreciate the great care that did go into the UI redesign, and many actually posted back with kudos for improved work flow.

I happen to be a happy camper with X1 through X3, and am REALLY enjoying X3d.  I always thought that while massively capable, 8.5.3 required an incredible retention of shortcut knowledge to really do well with it, almost like some black arts adventure into the unknown.

The change with X1 made Sonar WAY more accessible and user-friendly, and did improve my work flow quite a bit.

Its odd that he was banned and some others were not. But then I can't recall his misadventures that well. It could be that he got into it with CW on this forum. I know someone did I just can't recall who.

Glenbo is still as regular as ever on the old usenet forum and posted only yesterday

I don't visit that forum any more and to be honest I began to feel that he, pollymod and a few others had turned it in to a reaper forum and rarely posted about sonar issues unless it was to compare it to reaper.
He was helpful to me on occasion although we'd often had differences of opinion.

I guess its an indication of how far out of order someone can get. sometimes folks get into it with the mods and leave them little choice. I've seen some guys suspended for a few weeks but don't know of too many banned for ever more.

It's a sobering reminder that anonymity does not entitle us to conduct for which there are no consequences. We're in someone else's home and need to behave accordingly.

That Google forum has a post called "Oh Snap!" that has the same video that was linked to the thread in here on the next day, and the video is from September.

Oh yeah, look a video about reaper

I'm not knocking reaper and I'm sure its users can do most things we can in sonar can just in a different way but I just felt since he'd seemingly abandoned sonar in favour of a, "better" product why didn't he just post about it on the Reaper forum ?
That's what it's there for.

Good point. Maybe people that come under the Reaper's sway become fanatical and evangelize for it. They did that here for a while with it. I push Sonar but I don't force it on anyone.  Heck I installed Cubase for a fellow a couple of weeks ago.

Hmm oh well thanks for the answer.  See what I missed by skipping X1 and X2...

I, too, also miss the old newsgroup format I was quite active back then not so much on the web forum.  But no point in frequenting a newsgroup if there are no answers to be found.
