Now that I have a Fireface UFX , it has built in DSP so I don;t do the following any more but prior, I did this:
- While tracking, I record and bypass all effects EXCEPT a reverb. Do this by pressing "E" or the FX button on top
- GO to where your reverb is , right click and uncheck bypass bin just for that bus
- set up a dummy channel for whoever you want to have reverb by cloning the input tracks excluding the events. For me is was usually just the vocalist and / or maybe guitar. This will give you your input already set up
- Set input monitoring on the DUMMY track to on (press the button on the track)
- assign a send on the dummy tracks to the reverb bus
- Set send to PRE
- PRE allows you to keep a consistent reverb level from the input signal
- Mute the actual DUMMY channel signal
- when you record, do not record the dummy tracks
- Test your signal by talking/ playing into the real and dummy channels and increase the reverb send ONLY on the dummy channel until you get a the balance you want. The reverb signal is coming through the DAW inputs back through the interface so there may be a tiny bit of delay but since you muted the actual direct signal, for tracking purposes, it really is almost un-noticeable
- Also, it IS important to disable all your other effect as to avoid delays tracking as well as ensuring your recording won't glitch as effect use a lot of resources that you really don;t need while tracking
- This method is crude worked well for me and consistently
- U need one dummy track per input source you need reverb for but again, should only be one or two. Other methods just never gave me the proper results
