I thank you for the link. I do think. I hold that I think rather deeply. Others may have a very different view.

This may or may not be of any consolation to you but, sometimes... I think so deeply I'm drowning in my own thoughts.

To those who say "use the DEMO, or TRIAL to see if an issue has been resolved or not", it is not a viable approach.

I have tested the Trials since Sonar 7 and each one in turn had their own set of bugs and issues completely separate from the full version. The build numbers for them are also different.

Well it appears you installed the X3 trial then? If so what exactly are the differences you have found? (specifically X3 trial please).

The current demo should have exactly the same issues and bugs as X3D. Of course there will be a different build number, I suspect Pro, Studio and base versions will have different build number as well as they are all different builds. Even if they didn't it should be exactly like X3D.

Regardless the OP is looking for a specific set of issues to be resolved, the chances of the demo being unable to demonstrate whether it is fixed (or not) is zero. We should not discourage using demo's but we should always encourage backups beforehand :).

If i come across a camcorder i'll post a vid of what i'm talking about. Since it's so slight in movement a screen capture app wouldn't grab it. Off to finished my tune..

?

What screen capture app doesn't just capture exactly what's on screen? I'd have thought that if something's not showing in a screen capture, then it's not happening.

That aside: It's worth remembering that at all but very high zoom levels, where the duration of a sample can be shown as greater than one pixel wide, the visual positioning of a clip is by necessity an approximation. What makes you certain that you actually have a problem?

Craig, forgive my ignorance, but doesn't that also toggle with "snap to grid"? I had assumed that setting only applied with snap to grid enabled.

Post #4 seemed to imply he had snap to grid enabled, but we're not getting much info to go on.

Tim

go to screen capture.com and do a video, it will only help you clear up your problem.
its very possible you are missing something, if you had a common problem that has been documented I would agree with you, but ive never heard of this man.

screen capture has this thing called Zoom.(being totally serious) it will catch even the slightest movements.

good luck

The OP came back and confirmed snap to grid was off in post #9, so my assumption is zoom level, as John T also mentioned above. There are only so many pixels on the screen, so unless you are zoomed in close enough, a single pixel is representing an average, and potentially thousands of samples.

As an aside, I was doing an experiment from the course I am taking, where a "single sample" was modified in Audactity (creating an audible click). The first thing I did after replicating his "demonstration" was open that in SONAR to look at the samples, and here is that screen shot (the rest of the experiment is immaterial to the OP). Edit: This is a 1kHz sine wave at 44.1kHz sampling rate.

It took quite a while just to find the damn thing, but I did a lot of moving of that clip (in fact, it can easily be moved one sample at a time zoomed in this far).
