I like the variance of the velocity chosen for a kick drum track, but the velocity is to high. Can I globally slide down those velocity line. I see I can draw across, But I would like to keep the same variance and just slide it all down a ways. I'm using Addictive Drums.

Yes, you can use Scale Velocity or the Event Inspector. Check out the Event Inspector Editing video here: http://www.garrigus.com/

Or use the Velocity MFX

You can also click the kick note on the piano in the the piano roll view. This will highlight all the kicks. With all kicks highlighted, use the smart tool to grab the top part of one of the selected notes. If you grab the right spot, you can slide up or down to change velocity. It keeps them relative till you hit the ceiling and floor of course, so watch as you slide.

Nice tip! So, question for ya. If I slide the velocity scale all the way to 0 or 127, do all selected notes change to 0 or 127? I was wondering b/c I had tried just every velocity in between and like mentioned, they all changed % wise or relative to their original values and was stumped how to make them all the same velocity.

Make the note selection
Change the velocity in the Event Inspector. All the notes selected will be set to the value input into the Event Inspector. If the initial note in the selected set is already at the desired value, it may be necessary to set the value to something different and then set the desired value.

And last-but-not-least is the Velocity Offset widget on MIDI/Simple Instrument tracks (Gain in the Track Inspector or Vel+ in the track header). It will add or subtract a fixed velocity value to every event non-destructively on playback. This makes it easy to choose a value by ear as the you listen to the track.

Moving everything up so more velocities hit 127 is also the MIDI equivalent of limiting. With the Scale Velocity option, you can also do the equivalent of compression and expansion.

I always use Find/Change but you have to know the highest and lowest value in the existing track.  This way is not as convenient as those above, but it can be very precise.

Example:  C3 currently goes from low of 85 to high of 100 and you want them all 10 lower.  Do Find/Change.  On the first screen click ALL and then select note values of C3 and C3 and velocities of 85 and 100.  On the second screen click ALL and then select note values of C3 and C3 and velocities of 75 and 90.

That's where the Event Inspector is a lot easier. Just enter -10, and it will apply the offset without your having to know the range. Incidentally, there are CAL scripts named LoVel and HiVel that will find the range for you.
