Very cool!  It works!  Hooray!  :)

Here's what I learned:

If you have more than one Pentagon I softsynth in the browser (for whatever reason), there's no way (that I can see) to tell which one is assigned to the FX channel of the audio track.  In the FX channel it just shows up as "Pentagon I", not "Pentagon I 1" or "Pentagon I 2", or you see it named as "Pentagon I [6: Track 6]".  So when assigning the MIDI output, it seems to be guesswork at that point.

Rename the tracks?  Should give you the difference you seek in the output dropdown...

Rename the synths in the Synth Rack and those names will show up in the list of available track I/O.

I did all that to a track with some existing audio and all it does is mute the track. Any thoughts?

I found out why this just muted my tracks. It was unclear to me that there had to be midi notes in the midi track. I guess the vocals basically just control volume on the Pentagon and it has to have some midi notes to play. I thought that it would somehow get the note information from the audio but this is obviously note the case. Thx, Mike F.

When I turn on Pentagon it mutes the audio track. I tired recording MIDI info from my keyboard into the MIDI track but that did nothing but record sounds from Pentagon and they are not vocoder sounds, they are sounds from one of the many instruments in Pentagon.
