Have had no real issue so far with X3, seems easy to use, But a big disappointment that I hope can be fixed.

Wave Lab shows in the Utility menu, I suppose this is what the "tools" menu is called now.
I highlight a track, select Wav Lab in the Utility menu, and it opens fine but the work area is blank, no track.

Anybody have this working?

While I cannot speak to Wave Lab specifically, this issue is usually related to problems in the registry entry. Almost always due to the Type value being entered incorrectly. Type should be WaveEditor

An obvious question is;
Have you highlighted or selected some audio?

The only information on this topic is from 8.5 and Windows XP, There was a registry fix.
I lost this feature, which  I used a lot,  when I switched from XP 32 bit to W7 64 bit.

I was hoping someone here has this working in X series 64 bit and if there is a fix with better instructions for someone like me who has no business mucking with the registry.
Even if you use another wave editor I'd be interested to find out.

Try this formula with your wave editor.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Sound Forge Pro 11]
"ExePath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony\\Sound Forge Pro 11.0\\Forge110.exe"
"MenuText"="&Sound Forge Pro 11"
"StatusBarText"="Run Sound Forge Pro 11"
"Type"="WaveEditor"

It does require a registry edit here are the step by step instruction https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013099

Here is an example .reg file using the 64bit wavosaur which installed in C:\Program Files\Wavosaur modify to suit the situation
-- copy below into a file with .reg extension and right-click the file and merge into the registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Wavosaur]
"ExePath"="C:\\Program Files\\Wavosaur\\Wavosaur.exe"
"MenuText"="Wav&osaur"
"StatusBarText"="Run Wavosaur"
"Type"="WaveEditor"

Duckbar provides a graphical interface for making the registry changes. It can be downloaded from http://www.sonarmods.com/forum/index.php (registration required to download)
