Is it possible in Sonar X3 to capture an internet stream of music, send it into Sonar, and use Sonar as say fancy EQ for listening to music?

Reason I'm asking is because I have a set of monitors AND I have some PC speakers. When I do a side by side, the computer speakers really sound much better. I'm going to assume part of that might be the audio drivers on the PC and possible other software tweaks.  Yes, I know that monitors are not intended to sound musically good. I get that, but I'm wondering if it's possible to capture a stream so that I can enhance the stream to flavor before sending the output to the octa-capture then to the monitors.

yes, I know I know... Seems like overkill, but as you can imagine, the monitors sound flat, I'd like to give them a bit more pizaz if possible.  My goal here is to get rid of my computer speakers if I can get the monitors to sound more musical.

Got to be possible with a virtual audio cable but I have not played with VAC software in years. Besides my interface has an EQ and compressor build in.

Hmm.. The Octa-Capture has compressor but no EQ.

Yea, don't use them or the gate either but still it is nice to know they are there (just in case).

That was one of the best features of my old E-MU0404. I could insert a Wave Input strip in Patchmix, and use this as a direct input to Sonar. This brought the sound from any Windows program into the 0404, and on to Sonar.
Check your manual. The Octa Capture may already have such an input built in, possibly in the software GUI if it uses one.

RobertB... I opened up the Octa-Capture control panel app... At first glance it does not look like it's possible from there. The way the routing is going, is that it has the input from the computer going straight to the output :(

The Motu Ultralites have EQ, compression, limiters, and reverb.....
