  • [Solved] Melodyne in the Utility menu (behavior)

Recently I added both Audition and Melodyne to the Utility menu... reason being that I do quick operations on an entire song with both; however...

With Audition, it pops open, I can remove background noise, etc., simply hit "save" and close. Then when I switch back to X3, it says "The audio clip has changed, would you like to reload it?" Yuppers... GREAT! (I like this!)

With Melodyne, same deal, and it pops open as "Copy of...." so even if I edit it this way (I am assuming ARA integration has "intercepted" the launch); I need to "save as" ... The quickest way to turn this around is saving it to the desktop then going to X3, deleting it and importing the revised version (very clunky with all that this entails).

Would it be unreasonable to have Melodyne launch from the Utility menu so that I can make quick global adjustments to an ENTIRE song in the same fashion that control is handed off to Audition?

I just added Melodyne to the utility menu and it worked fine. Here are the test steps I performed:

Selected a clip in SONAR,
launched Melodyne from SONAR Utilities (see my .reg file below)
messed with the clip in Melodyne
Closed Melodyne, saved file when prompted
Reloaded clip when prompted in SONAR

Here is the .reg file I merged

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Melodyne]
"ExePath"="C:\\Program Files\\Celemony\\Melodyne singletrack\\Melodyne singletrack.exe"
"MenuText"="&Melodyne"
"StatusBarText"="Run Melodyne"
"Type"="WaveEditor"

Hmmm, I had to open and test it to realize the step I needed was "Close Melodyne, saved file when prompted" (everything but that line I had/done).

As the file name came up as "Copy of Take 4_1" I was not expecting it to work, but it did!

Thanks, scook!!
