Hi Bob
Thank you. It has improved however I'm starting to suspect it is my audio interface. There is still some clicks and the audio interface keeps disconnecting itself !
OK - progress is a good thing, but your level of hardware should be able to handle things. That it is not suggests that there is more to do, as there is either more going on or the changes may need further adjustment.
It will help us to help you if you give us more information as we go along here.
1. Precisely what changes did you make?
2. After you made whatever changes you made, what did your Total Roundtrip Latency value change to?
3. Are these clicks and pops happening on all projects, or just some projects?
4. Have you tried testing with the new settings in a brand new project with NO effects plugins loaded?
5. Do you have 'green' hard drives?
6. Your USB devices will sometimes get disconnected by Windows, as by default it has something set called USB Selective Suspend, which can be adjusted in the Advanced Power Settings. If you go into Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options, select High Performance as the power plan, then click on Change plan settings, then click on Advanced Plan Settings, tell it to never put your computer to sleep, then click on Change Advanced Plan Settings, then expand USB Settings and expand USB Selective Suspend Setting, set it to Disabled, then click Apply and back your way back out - saving your changes along the way. Actually, while you are in the Advanced Plan Settings, look for Processor Power Management and expand it, then expand Minimum Processor State and set that to 100%. This change will have your computer run at its highest CPU performance level, which is a good thing for Sonar.
Also, I would like you to download and run DPC Latency Checker and/or LatencyMon, to see what your computer's basic ability to handle audio streaming, such as what Sonar does.
DPC Latency Checker can be downloaded at:
http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml LatencyMon can be downloaded at:
http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon Either one of the above should be run for 2-3 minutes, and the results reviewed and posted here.
We will do our best to assist you, once we have more info, so please review the above, download and run one or both of the utility programs above, and post back with the information I have requested.
Thanks,
Bob Bone
