Hi, I apologize if this is the wrong forum.  I'm getting back into home recording, and have an old version of Home Studio 6.  I'm curious if I can (or should) upgrade to XL3, but also if anyone can point me in the right direction (My account shows I can upgrade for $49, but not sure if they're assuming I have an XL version).  I'm doing acoustic and vocals at home, but also want to be able to use Amplitube 3 as a plugin.  If I can upgrade from this version, should I get the basic X3 or X3 Studio?  Thank you!

There is a comparison chart that you view on the cakewalk site that will help you choose. When you log into your account it will be explained what you need to qualify for the various upgrades.

If you don't already have one, buy a proper (sound card/interface) first. The basic sound card on a computer will not cut it for recording. Then what ever level of daw software you decide to purchase, you will have a better experience with your recording. If you have a interface already, based on your needs the basic should be fine. You can always up-grade later, if you decide that you need more of what Sonar offers. Or you could just keep working with Home Studio. New software usually does not make you sound any better, it just make it more fun sometimes.
