While I understand all that you said I also understand that what I witnessed as I installed X3 has nothing to do with what Cakewalk and Celemony intended do do when they released the promotional. Word that are released with a promotion may be subject to interpretation but can not be changed. Free means "Free". "Update" I grant you, is questionable but not in the contest of one's installing X3 (basic). "Bundled" means something is packaged or contained within a package and appears to be or may be looked upon as a single entity. "X3" means X3. It is not X3 Studio or X3 Producer. Look at the three descriptions referenced. There they are clearly distinguished.
Moreover, while Melodyne is not mentioned as being a feature included ion the X3 version, neither is it mentioned as being included with the other versions ... art least not that I can see,
Another issue deals with the advertised price. As I purchased X3 I did so believing that I was taking advantage of the $99 special.
As I transacted my purchase saw nothing to suggest that the price was anything less than $105.00. For the difference of $6.00 I wasn't concerned over the price; but, I remain irritated over the sloppiness of Cakewalk's Online marketing and their lack of quality control.
In terms of sloppiness, .... Melodyne Single Track, Melodyne Essential, Melodyne Editor ... I defy anyone who reads the promotional to define what version is to be updated "free" and bundled with Sonar X3. Somewhere in the mix up there is mention of Melodyne Single Track which I why I have used that descriptor almost exclusively. I have also seen Melodyne Editor Single Track or was is Melodyne Essential Singel Track. None-the-less, absolutely nothing said about the bundled item being a "trial" version or a "30-day trial" version.
