Another, shall we say, "interesting" Mac experience:

If Sun Microsystems is an "unidentified developer," I wonder if Cakewalk would be considered similarly.

I would hate to see resources being channeled away from what I consider to be their core business - improving the current product line by fixing bugs, adding new tools and improving workflows.

If the decision was made to start writing it all so it would run on OSX, we Windows users would be waiting for a long time before any notable improvements fell our way.

For me it's a non-starter

+1

Of course, that would be a viable strategy if Cake wants to become the Ashton-Tate of the DAW industry.

Solution (you probably know already Craig):

No I didn't know that, because I'm not on Mountain Lion so never had to deal with it. But you will make my friend ecstatic!!! Thank you!!!!

They've probably patched it now so you can't do it :) Cheers Craig..

The DigiTech iPB-10 never sold very well but I think DigiTech made a huge mistake with the marketing. You do not need to have the iPad in the unit. You can program it with the iPad and have your sounds and stomps ready to go, then leave the iPad at home and then the iPB-10 just becomes a regular pedalboard. It deserved to do much better than it did - it sounded great and was very capable.

Craig, agreed. Nice sounding unit but i found it impractical to programme, so sold it and went back to my rp500.

Your comments about the consols are interesting. I've been hesitating about the Mackie.

Cheers,
Jerry

Well, can I ask apple to make a logic version for windows? LOL

Well, you can use Sonar on a Mac...There's a software called Bootcamp.
Moreover, all vst's just have a windows version.that's not the case for mac.

In fact I just think macfans just use GarageBand, Logic (because of the logo) or Protools and just wouldn't bother with something else.

Well, I guess you could ask :)

Bootcamp is not a practical solution for me, as I explained in my original post. Macfans use Garageband because it comes with their computers. People use Logic because it's a great creative tool.  They use Protools because they want to use the industry standard (i guess). I've never really used protools tho.

Anyway, it looks like Gibson already answered my question, no plans for a mac version. That's all I was asking. No problem.

The thread had been answered the week of the Gibson announcement.

Hi,
perhaps somebody knew, but with Magix and Samplitude it was the same. They wanted to bring Samplitude  to the Mac since three or four years. But a few weeks ago, they announced the stop of this progress, and I think they know why they do that. If it would be worth to have a Mac-Version, they wouldn't stop it, even they had invest a lot of money and time the last years. Now they will concentrate more on the software itself to make it better and better. And that's also what I think Cakewalk has to do with Sonar.

Maybe the amount of Mac-Users, working with a professional daw is not as high as Mac-Users suppose.
