I didn't mention it before:

The point is not that I got a Mac. The point is...The WORLD is getting a Mac.

What a troll.
Well....In the US, apple market share is 10%...And since the US is one of the countries with Apple's biggest market share (they're rich and American),I wouldn't consider "everyone" is buying a Mac.
More seriously, the WORLD is getting Android....Why not sonar on Android? (There's iPad/Iphones, I know, but hey, there's a lot more Android smartphones!!)...Don't tell me,I know the answer.

I also don't agree with that. The market share of apple is not as high as generally supposed. And by this measure, there a surely only a few Apple-user producing music in a semi- or professional way. I can't believe that it is worth to re-program such a complex software for such a minority. Look at Magix with Samplitude. They wouldn't stop the process if it's worth to go on.

I think that Apple has just a better marketing and a status like a "Must have". That's all. Everywhere in the world people want to save money, but with apple the pay gladly a lot more for what other can do for less money. I don't know why.

Interesting thread - excuse me a minute... "Hey Cakewalk, what are you doing about all these tablets and stuff?"

Cakewalk released their first iPad app last year and it's pretty cool. It was kinda flakey at first, but version 1.1 is a whole lot better.

Pity they cannot do something of a cut-down for iPad with Sonar itself.

Something I find kinda funny is:
most of us is using at minimum a 4 cores x86 processor with Terabytes of HDDs, both normal and SSD, audio interfaces(Thunderbird, USB3, Firewire). And we all scratch our heads dealing with latency ,dropouts , HDD speed, plugins CPU consumption,etc...

What about tablets? Well..Can you make a pro record with 32GB class 4 microSD,a quad ARM processor and 1GB RAM, a "may be" compatible stereo USB audio interface, a 9 inches screen and a cheesy OS (Sorry, on iPad,you also can't use microSDs and I'm not sure about USB)

Someone stops me laughing...

hmmm - I can see you are a deep thinker there guigz2000. Thanks for that insightful post. Rather sweeping statements and ridiculous generalities.

OBVIOUSLY it would be not a full version, more a version that would run Sonar CWP's preset up on the PC...would be mostly MIDI for obvious reasons, but some audio based CWP's could also be used. So I am talking about a "player" app more than an "editing/production" app.

Had you thought past your attempt at a supercilious reply you may have considered that THIS is what I was hinting at!

joden, well, I wasn't meaning you're stupid (but it seems I stinged your ego)

So,since you're such a wonderful thinker (which I'm not), just tell me,because I'm too stupid to find the answers:
WHat's the point in a "Player App" if you can't edit?
What will you use it for?
Also what will this player be able to play if you inject a CWP with audio tracks, plugins,MIDI and virtual instruments,Unprocessed audio with MIDI on GM Synth?
What will be the price you'll buy this player and how many downloads will there be?
How long will it take to develop it on iPad and Android and for what cost?
Who will use it?

WHat you're looking for is FLStudio Mobile. It exports MIDI so you may import them in cakewalk.

Already have FL ;-) Glad you agree with me re your thinking. Accepting a problem is halfway to sorting it!

I'd have no problem if CW decided to create a mobile friendly version of SONAR that was completely *.cwp compatible.

After they've perfected the PC version, of course.
