We had a long and valuable discussion about Offset, but there is one thing about which I am not clear.
 
I am trying to zero out / eliminate all offsets on projects that were corrupted with unwanted offsets.  Can I just enter automation mode and move all faders to zero?  OR do I have to put all the tracks in Write and zero all the tracks while the project is playing?

Hey, CJ.  I guess I just continue to be confused by this.  In a previous thread someone told me that when you turn Offset off, any changes you made still happen.  Example:  Turn Offset on, move a fader down 3 db, turn offset off, volume will still be 3 db less.
 
If that ^^ was wrong and I can just turn it off, cool.  Seems to be a lot of confusion in the community about this function and the help is very cryptic.
 
I have no desire to use it, but somehow some projects got corrupted.  By that I mean, if I enter offset mode, they faders go all over the place indicating that there is some offset.  If there were none, they would all go to zero.

PS I am also having this weird problem of the faders not moving in response to automation unless Write is turned off.  These two factors make mixing quite confusing.

When you turn offset off, the offset will be null and void and the tracks will not get effected by the offset anymore. Now if you moved any faders up or down those volume changes stay.  Fader movement will always effects volume.

Offset mode can't be turned off, you can only exit it to envelope mode. Any changes made in offset mode will still affect the overall output of the tracks.
 
i.e. If you decrease a track by 3dB in offset mode, that track will be 3dB lower when in envelope mode. You could of course increase the same track by 3 dB in envelope mode which will counteract the offset change but the offset is still applied. There is no way to turn it off. You'd merely be cancelling the change out.
 
Easiest way to "undo" any offsets is to enter offset mode, and double click on any control that has been "offset". That will return it to it's default setting.

Thanks, biker dude.  Considering that several people who are world-class experts on audio in general and Sonar in particular have been confused by this function indicates that Cakewalk might consider cleaning up the documentation just a bit.
