For anyone using MOTU hardware be advised they have new drivers for some of their stuff; there's new drivers for the MIDI Timepiece AV USB for example, and I can vouch it works quite well on Win XP sp3. It's the first update for this driver in years.

WOW! I can only speak for the MOTU 24 io. Using Sonar X1c and just the smallest CPU hungry plugs included in Sonar, I reached 32 samples in the buffer in the ASIO driver mode. That is just a tiny over 1ms. latency. UNBELIEVABLE! I loaded a project chock full of hungrier plugs like Perfect Space and Vintage Channel and just had to bump it up to 64 samples in the buffer. That's 2.8 ms. latency. I'm smiling for the rest of the day!

BTW, that's on a Windows 7, 64 bit, 12 gigs RAM, Asus quad.

Sid - so you're saying that the 24 IO drivers allowed you to use lower latency than the prior drivers?  that's GREAT!  what version of OS are you using?  which version of X1 (32bit/64bit)

Sorry! Had a session this afternoon. That is with Sonar X1C x64 and x32. I use to have to use 256. I was lucky with low track count and minimal plugs to get 128 samples stable. My system is rockin' now. The latency was not too bad with the older drivers, but now, latency is not an issue at all.

BTW, the DPC button was used fairly often with my old drivers. No need for it at all now.

thanks for the update, Sid.  I've had to use 256 most of the time, sometimes even 512!  I'm using the firewire interface with the Ultralite.  I'll check it out and see if it helps mine any!

I downloaded the new MOTU drivers yesterday for my 828 mk3 hybrid. Thanks for this update! I am looking forward to see if there is a change in how low the samples go or can go with the new update. I usually run at 64 or 128 samples. I did not get any notice from MOTU about this, just stumbled upon it. Cecelius2

Has anyone been successful updating the firmware to their UltraLite?
Whenever I put my unit into firmware update mode, the updater doesn't see the unit.

your signature says you have an ultralite MK3 - there is not a firmware update available for the MK3, only for the original ultralite.  here's what the website says for the firmware update for ultralite:

This firmware is compatible only with original UltraLites. It is not compatible with UltraLite mk3s or UltraLite mk3 Hybrids.
