I'm singing Lead and Harmonies. I wrote it in 2012 and recorded it about six months ago.  And have been remixing it recently.

Vanish (3- 11 -2012)
I think I'm gonna vanish today/ I think that I'll just up and slip away
Been feeling kind of weary, tired let's just say/ I think I'm gonna vanish today
I'm not really feeling social right now/ wish I could jump the moon just like the cow
nothing oh so serious just feeling kinda down/ wish that I could vanish somehow

I put all of my money in this truck/ the seller said that she would bring me luck
but most days she just sleep there in my yard/ I don't think she could really get me far
I throw all my belongings in her bed/ I'm the kind that goes where he is led
visions of a perfect life swimming in my head/ I'll settle now for vanishing instead

and oh come a rain/ a cold wind blowing my way

I turn the key and head on down the road/ and wave goodbye to Harlequin my crow
sometimes I think there ain't a thing in this world he don't know/ a philosopher that flies both high and low
I travel by the stars at night, I sleep during the day/ where ever my heart takes me is where I stop to stay
I study on just how my path got turned around this way/ I think I'm gonna vanish today

and oh come a rain/ a cold wind blowing my way

I think I'm gonna vanish today/ me and this old truck and slip away
I wonder bout ol Harlequin and what he'd have to say

I think I'm gonna vanish/ I think I'm gonna vanish/ I think I'm gonna vanish today

Really nice song - I've had days like that. You definitely have that Elvis Costello thing going on with your voice.
The mix and especially the vocal is over compressed in my opinion.
Great stuff though

Lovely song and nice story telling with an uncomplicated arrangement, great stuff.

I do however tend to agree that the vocal may be slightly over compressed, as it seems to pop out at you in places.

Great song, and good arrangement! The piano and guitars gets fuzzy together, even if I like the style and progression. You have a really good colorful singing voice, with big expression. :)

Nice! Why is the acoustic arpeggiated guitar all panned left? Is it 100% left? Maybe pull it in just a little to center? and I'd say as it is as loud as your vocal in spots, you could probably pull it back just a tad.

And you've got some very softly strummed acoustic guitar full right? I think it might be creating timing issues for you. I totally get that you are trying to make space, but it sounds pretty hard panned.

Listen to the last 30 seconds, the guitars are gone - it sounds much clearer and the emphasis is put on your excellent voice.

Really like the Knopfler-esque qualities here and there. Great storytelling voice!

cheers,

Glad you liked it.  I'm working to get better at using compression.  Thank you for the feedback.

Thank you. My reference record for this song was "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" by Lucinda Williams. I love the sound-field on that record.

Thanks for the feedback Tom.  I was indeed attempting to create space and depth.  Only the strummed guitar is hard panned.  And yes I've been playing with and modifying LRC panning.  I'll keep working on it.
