Hey all,
This is probably not the place for something like this, but a song I wrote & recorded called "Be somebody else" is being reviewed in this month's issue of Recording magazine. The review is really good, and I thought it would be cool to share it with my fellow Cakewalkers since this forum is responsible for most of what I know how to do in Sonar.

The online review is here: http://www.recordingmag.com/tapereviews.html
We also shot a video for the song. See that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD23XiBV1y8

Thanks for all your help guys!!

Great job, Ryan.  You should post this in the Song forum, and you'll find a lot of fans.

Great track and great well-deserved review.  Congratulations!

It is odd that Recording's one suggestion was about the drums: I noticed immediately that the drums sounded great and fit the track perfectly.  The reviewer suggested a deeper snare, but that could quickly muddy up what is a very clean and balanced track.  And I don't think a live player is needed.  In fact, I did not know that the drums were not live.  No doubt the reviewer is a very smart guy and probably much smarter than me; but for what it's worth, I think the drums are fine like they are.

I really enjoyed that track.

The drums sounded great to me as well, the snare felt perfect.

Well done - that's a great tune.

I agree: it's definitely got that rock anthem thing going. Well done, sir!

Hey guys,
Just want to say thanks for all the positive feedback!
I agree with you guys, the drums sound ok to me, but maybe I'll use some V-drums and a live drummer next time & see if it comes out any better.

Thanks again, it's great to be a part of such a supportive community!

Ryan, congrats.  And everyone is a critic.  If someone is talking about a snare drum needing depth in a rocker it is most likely a small difference in taste, or less generousl,y the writer needing to something to pan in order to justify the review.  Good job, sir.
