  • Writing down ideas and tasks to complete in a project?

Is there anywhere I can write down ideas, tasks to do and other notes in a project?  Is the Project->Info... option used for that sort of thing?

It would be nice to have a progress task thing or should I use Microsoft's Project Manager or something similar - how do others manage their projects?

Cheers

You can use the info Window as suggested. In the Inspector Window there is a comment section on a per track basis. Also so there is a free VST notes plugin available. You'd have to google it. It's also possible to use lyrics view to create comments that follow the project timeline.

Ok I think the tracks view description field looks big enough - I might try inserting a track just for the comments in the track view description and also use per track as well - I suss'd out the VST Notepad thingy - I dunno about that one looks dodgy...

It'll be good to develop VST Plugin that integrates with OneNote or Microsoft Project - hmmmm... tempting

I use the tried and true "Witches Brew" method to work on my projects.

use a dash of this a bit of that.  nothing is written down per se.....as far as ....do this first, then do this and then after that do this other thing....... no, I don't have a list.

I do keep a sheet of paper on the desk to make notes..... for example as I go through a song and hear a spot where I want to check out something or edit at that point, I jot the measure number down... so In effect, I guess I;m using the "old skool" paper and pencil method for notes.

It works.

What I see is that the comments are embedded in tracks, which is useful when you have attention on one track, but not much use otherwise.
Has anybody discovered a method where a report can be produced showing all the notes written on all tracks (all at once)?

Also it really should be split into two types of notes, (1) General notes (2) Outstanding tasks, at least for the way I work, that way a TODO list can be generated in the form of a report, quite like what Visual Studio does.

If these enhancements were made maybe I would consider ditching notepad as a TODO list.

Cheers...

Bad news this one. Crashes Reaper, and now I can't delete it from my VST folder.

same with Cubase x64
Even with JBridge it does not work, The idea is great though. Is there an alternative?

I don't mind old skool for short term things, but imagine working on multiple projects and don't get around to each project over a few days or weeks even, then tend to loose the sticky notes, scrap pieces of paper, notepads, (and mind you there's never a pen when you need it most) - if the notes were integrated and embedded with each project then that sorts that out...
