I am using ProChannel EFX:
-Tape Emulator
-Console Emulator
-Concrete Limiter
As my basic mastering/main buss chain
Currently, I have the limiter last, since I want to catch the peaks, however there has been talk earlier on this forum stating that the Console plug-in should always be last in the chain.

Thoughts?

I. Personally, would not use the tape emulator on the master bus very often.

I agree that normally the Console Emulator should be last, but the Master Bus is an exception.

I would tend to use the PC4K first, gently, as it helps glue a mix together. Then Quad Curve EQ, followed by Console Emulation, and Concrete Limiter always last.

Every project will vary, but that's my basic chain.

The final limiter on the master bus is an exception. If the limiter is not last there is a risk of overs.

Okay - that's what I thought.

Rather than following general guidelines, why not place everything where you want and do some experimentation? You may find a better way. The trial and error method always leaves me with knowledge I didn't have previously, and if I fail, then I go back to the recommendations to recover. At least that's what I do when building amps.

Mistakes are learning tools in disguise.

Good advice, ampfixer.

@jb101 - why would you not use the Tape Emulator on a main buss?

Just remember that you can have the PC post or pre FX bin.

Good reminder for me John. I always forget the simple things.
