+1 to the sE X1 too. Even the old sE 2000 was very good for the money - it was my first cond. mike.

The reflection filter is good too, if your room is less than perfect, but you do need a heavy duty stand.

Yeah, I suspect it would be.

I have the NT-2A.... it's a nice mic. I use it for acoustic guitar and vocals mainly and it does a fine job of capturing the details in the voice and instruments..... no regrets.

The NT1-A is at a good price.  Just don't be dropping that one..... handle it with care and deliberation.

BMOG:  this might be helpful: http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2011/7/30/microphone-shoot-out-se-electronics-sex1-rode-nt1a.html

cheers
michael

I actually like the cleaner sound from the SEX1 mic. This mic... in the sound samples, had a brighter sound with less mid/low in the sound.

The NT1 seems to have more mids and low on it which is OK..... but I  have to use EQ to roll off the low end to clean it up sometimes with the Rode.

If you have not yet made a decision..... or spent any money.....

for the money... have a look at Gauge Mics.

http://www.gauge-usa.com/..e_Microphones/Home.html

I do not believe they are sold in stores, only through the website.

However..... I had the opportunity a few years back to be at a songwriters convention (Taxi road rally) in California and Gauge had a vendor booth set up where you could A/B their mics against mics costing many times the price of the Gauge.  In side by side comparison, they stack up favorably against mics 10x as expensive.

check out their comparison page too.

The only reason I do not have a Gauge is because I had just bought the Rode NT2-A a few months before I saw and heard the Gauge mics.......and since it is a good mic.... and my wife would not approve of multiple condenser mic purchases.....

Check them out. For the money, they are a good purchase.
