They're both about $280.  I write all styles of music and the agitato (I think) would really liven up my strings pieces.  But Gravity is the grandaddy of versatility.  Which would you buy if you can only buy one?

I guess Vastman is best situated to help you out of this conundrum. If you do a forum search you'll find some unhappy Gravity customers but most do love the (self-powered) expansions like Scoring Guitars and Vocalise. I'm getting the latter in this sale.

Now that the dust has settled, I've not heard one person who was truly happy with what they spent on Gravity or how Heavyocity has handled the plugin and its expansions.

Well, I'm happy with both. But I did not pay full price on either set.

With Gravity you need to remember that it is mainly a cinematic tool. It has quite a bit of content but it's geared toward cinematic stuff. The pad section can handle more styles, but if that's what you need then you might look at a versatile soft synth like Zebra. Gravity is very usable and the sounds are top notch if you're into cinematic writing.

Also Heavyocity have annual sales while the Agitato bundle as is going away, so I 'd grab them at this moment.

Ok, no gravity.  (but I might buy vocalize because it's only $50.)  How much is the ARK going to be?  Maybe I can busk on Alberta Street this weekend!

I don't have Gravity, so I can't comment on it. But I do have Vocalize, and I like it a lot, and it sees a lot of use. I do cinematic/orchestral stuff pretty much exclusively, and Vocalize fits the role perfectly. If that is the sort of music you want to make with it, I think its a no-brainer for 40 bucks.

I just bought Agitato (not the whole bundle, just violins, violas and cellos grand ensembles) and Adagietto, and I REALLY like them. Gorgeously emotional, and not subtle in the slightest. However, all the usual complaints about 8Dio's stuff should be kept in mind: there is some panning oddness between different samples; not all the samples are clean or artifact free; and the legato slurring takes some practice to play, a lot of post-recording tweaking to really shine, and it is occasionally glitchy.

But when they work, they really damn-well work, and I've been thrilled with the results I've been getting with them. I'm not using the 8Dio libraries as primary string libraries -- I don't think that's their real purpose -- but instead as killer accessory items to my other full libraries. So far, I've layered them successfully with Albion, Da Capo and Hollywood Strings. They are not for everyone -- hence the rather polarized reputation they have -- but if you take the time to learn how they work and what they do, I think they're an essential addition to a classical/cinematic library setup. And you can't beat the current price.

Just my two cents.
