I use it sometimes on individual tracks, but not for program material. It's not as "clean" as some other options, but sometimes that grit is exactly what's needed

hmm... Now I want to try using it to squish the heck out of something then turning the track down to fit it back into the mix. Might be interesting because it does seem to have a specific "flavor" to it.

I'm in. I use Boost11 quite a bit. Love the simplicity. When used in a subtle manner it does the trick and sounds good.

So to be clear, Shawn, this thread is just open to true fanatics? Alternate or tempered views are not solicited?

I agree totally with Craig on this.  Basically Boost 11 crunches (distorts) anything going through it.  (If you cannot hear it you have a problem!!)  So for pristine final mixes it is definitely not the go.  If you use it on a final mix you are severely compromising it.  If you are really serious about keeping your final mix totally pristine this is not the way to do it. I tried it once and heard it immediately and never used it again.

On tracks maybe but it does add crunch and to be perfectly honest it is not nice crunch either. (IMO)

PSP Xenon, now there is a limiter! Totally opposite to Boost 11. Could be said it is one of the best limiters on the planet. At a cost though. If you are really serious about maintaining mix integrity this is the only way to go.

This one is free:

It might have a bit of a learning curve but I suspect it is way better sounding than Boost 11.

After much experimentation I ended up using this (and it is free):

Not for those who like flashy displays and blinky things..

+1  This is very close sounding to the waves L1 it is based on just with a more limited feature set.  When I need a fairly transparent limiter and don't feel like screwing around with too many parameters, this does the trick every time
