  • [Solved] Why does an imported Zoom wav file end up at the end?

I frequently record my group's sessions using my Zoom digital recorder. Afterwards, I copy the wav file to my HD and import into an audio track in Sonar X1. For some reason, the end result is that the recorded audio is placed at the very end of the session, i.e., hundreds of bars beyond where the now time bar (set at 0:00:00) is. I've learned how to move the audio to the zero time point, but I wonder why it this is occurring, and how I can prevent it, and get the audio at the zero start point right from the import.

I would appreciate any suggestions, and thank you for your time.

It is a broadcast wave. Uncheck "Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp" in Preferences > File > Audio Data.

One time I imported a sound effect over and over again because I thought it wasn't going into Sonar.  It turns out there were like a dozen copies way out at 40 minutes. :-)

Thank you! I doubt I would have figured that one out on my own. And, yes, I too have repeatedly import audio only to find each copy strung together at the far end of the project. Kill this feature.

Cheers,

They should definitely keep the feature, but change the default. If you're trying to reconstruct a project within Sonar that was created with a different program, time-stamped clips will go exactly where they need to go on the timeline.

Super-important if you're doing any kind of dialog/soundtrack for video!

Yes, absolutely.  It's the most annoying default behavior in Sonar IMO.
