Well Bob your asking a lot of reasonable Questions...
Ilok also, codemeter...was installed.
I forgot that in the list above.
The motherboard is older now, and is no longer getting updates, the bios is updated to the latest one...so no worries there.
And the motherboard drivers were supplied by Microsoft mostly...only the usb and usb 3 , and marvel controller drivers were needed from Asus's drivers.
As for onboard firewire A 400 ...it is disabled in Bios for a reason..it is not using a chip recommended by Allen and Heath...So the Firewire B 400/800 card is in place...in a unshared slot...windows takes care of that driver aswell.
The conflict is with internet nic and allen and heath....it was mentioned to me by Allen and heath technical support over the phone.
That is why I do not usually connect that machine to the internet....again are you reading my posts, or are they too long?...? or just gleening over?
So now for the news given by second Microsoft technician who called me at 11,25pm est.
He said in full voice...what is your problem?....I said look into the event viewer and see the logs of errors and warnings and go through them, to see if they need resolution.
As it was, last night I reinstalled win 7 pro, and did updates most of the night, and into the morning hours to get the system fresh..
Once done these errors and event logs were noticed , with some odd behavior.
he said show me those errors...when I opened event viewer, he said I will delete all the events...and tomorrow I will come back to see what is going on.
I explained ,Win update installed IE 11, which was very buggy,(internet and audio driver conflicts?) did not go to URLs of known working places for downloads of software, and drivers....I started a software download, and the IE 11 crashed the OS...the OS Hanged , did not respond to end task, as end task could not be invoked....and I then reset manually the system.
the onboard internet card has issues with the external Allen and heath audio device.......He said this is not a Microsoft problem, take that up with you device manufactures.
I said they are crashing on Microsoft software...so it is in part your problem as well, at least look and see...and IE 11 is also Microsoft...so is event viewer...and all those services and apps running in the back ground I do not need running if I eventually will not use internet..once all the system is fixed...I will turn internet off......but you do not want to look into Microsoft things it seems at this point.
He told me to stop and listen...I said you asked me a question, and I have the right to answer, and take as long as I need to express this to you to the answers, so you understand....there are ISS and ASP.Net managing issues needing to be addressed, as this is continually being logged as happening but failing to resolve because something is not installed, or turned off....So perhaps turning it on, letting it resolve, and turning it back off again might stop it?
No everything is fine he said, and asked to close the session.
I said Ok , but tomorrow you will look into the viewer for any new error logs....and resolve them right?....he said we will see tomorrow between 9pm and 11pm.
That was it.
So...it was a waste of my time waiting for this to happen for just another day to come to mead.
One says one thing, to give me hope, and another points the finger away from any resolve soon....
SO Sorry folks for the long waits.
and broken lists, and long posts.....it does seem Sonar is working...dimension Pro is not working and the icon has gone white.,,,not sure why that has happened...it was fine this morning.
I have more software to install...I am tired...one more drink of berry Juice, and I am calling it a night.
thanks for the support folks....But this is going to be hard to solve for if I keep using the net on that machine.
So I am turning it off...till I finish installing my software.
