Sir Les
Thanks for the tip to run a driver checker updater, But like one of the other replies stated....I go to the manufactures web sites...when browers allow it...and get my drivers directly from them...
To show this is what I do...I downloaded the A&L drivers...even though I got them on DVD...Just to be shure all is well in play ville...or not.

So that worked out well...because the driver was not installed as of yet, and there is nothing wrong with the firewire 800 and Nic...to show as a resulting state.
Only after putting that driver in, did things go south....as the manufacture said happens.

So this is now established as truth...and You and other consume it as the truth..and now we can move Sideways with that understud and mindful of it....meading more mead made in forward progressions!...wink

I am running a long test as I write on the music system...recording at 48khz 1024 buffer...been about 1 hour now....I should go check it out.
and start the next higher state...suppose to go as high a 9600khz...buffer ???been maxed in past...but maybe things are different now.?

Sir Les
This has happened...Because I know I set this up before Microsoft remote was done..as I do with all my systems.
I turn off sleep mode, and such, I put power management settings to always on...and any kind of video monitor suspend off or to never..on both power management choices Basic, and performance.

So my hard drives do not go to sleep.

Well I guess the remoters last night turned them back on with out me aware....So I only got 30min of recording, and it went to sleep...Nice!

This is what happens when you do not tweak the OS...and leave things to their own defaults..in some regards!

SO be mindful....Just saying mead will be served at 5pm est.

Sir Les
ok the 48khz 1024 30 min test has no clicks or pops or anomalies on the tracks recorded that I can hear or see..even when zoomed.

I have done a 9600khz 2048 buffer which sets as default...when selecting the 9600khz selection was not so promising...a state.
Seems there is cpu spikes still going on here, at my preferred settings.

This is another reason I have asked for help...
I do not see any problems with pops or clicks yet, nor have any been recorded that I can see in the wave view of each track even when zoomed....But as this is recording of nothing...what does a drop out sound like with nothing?...nothing.

So this is a problem...and in that I have to turn up the buffers to compensate...or...tweak the problem so it stops doing it....it is sure as rain a background app or service.

that is what has brought things to my logical progression in mead being made....and asking for help for months here with the build and or setup , and or behavioral problems in the past...till now...in this new state of fresh.

So I can say no pops or clicks or booms have happened yet...but this is still young with this state as it is reinstalled properly...and win 7 is fresh, with no other bad plugins...

So we have to say...the cpu spikes from past experiences did cause the drop outs on playback, then if they persist now on the new lean state , the same is occurring now?

Sip.

Does opening a old project bring in bad settings?...cause I can open one and play it back, if they open at all is still a unknown...Problem is, I had to max out the buffers in them old recordings to get clean recordings and proper playback...with tweaks in toe...before the reinstall of win 7 and such.

I run my audio interface and Sonar settings at 48 k Sample Rate, 24-bit record bit-depth, ASIO Buffer Size of 128, and a driver mode of ASIO.

My reported latency values in Sonar are:

Input: 4.7 ms, 224 samples
Output: same
Total Roundtrip: 9.3 MS 448 samples

The above give me pop/crackle/dropout free processing with no noticeable latency.  My system could go to 96 k sample rate, but not worth it to me - rather have hassle-free operation, and 48 k is plenty good.

Do as you choose,

I do not know what Sonar does with opening projects where the sample rate is higher in the project being opened than currently set in Sonar and the interface.

Also, if you have 32-bit plugins in older projects, sometimes one or more of certain 32-bit plugs have interfered with 64-bit Sonar operation.

Event viewer...

Sir Les
I do not believe I have ever used a third party 32 bit plug in sonar anything on this system....But I have used one third party new Plug in called Sasquatch...again this has been mentioned in other posts of mine....and that is 64bit...the thing I am worried about is bringing bad code into the new build..or any corrupted data...that may cause this installation to go south.
dimension pro was corrupted...would not uninstall...so I over wrote it, and it installed asking if I want to overwrite...I selected yes to all...and now it is working.

AlexS...what do you need from event viewer?...as there are several levels to pick and choose from...or do you want all or the most recent?

Will do the most recent, as most of the other stuff has been addressed and posted already...

So stand by:...here it comes.
And thanks for being patient with me....

That is what has happened today...firmware for what?...and what power transitions?,,,is this safe?...is this automatically turning back or changing the power settings?...nah not me doing it. at that time.

"This event is reported after detection of memory corruption by firmware after a power transition or sleep event."

The above was cut from a Microsoft page for that error message.
