  • Should we expect X3e to fix remaining bugs? If so, when?

X3d fixed many bugs and it seems most folks are happy with it.  That being said, there are quite a few bugs that remain, some of which are quite significant.  Alex has done a great job keeping track of these here:

Can anyone from Cakewalk tell us if X3e is in the works to address these remaining issues?  If so, any time table for release?

Thanks

David

They have already indicated an X3e was going to be released at some point - there was no date mentioned for when that was going to be, but so far so good.

They have done a fabulous job thus far with X3.

There will be an X3e. The timetable has not yet been announced. As noted, "X3d fixed many bugs and it seems most folks are happy with it." As a result I would speculate (I don't speak for Cakewalk) that they might take a little extra time to squash as many of the remaining bugs as possible, especially as most aren't show-stoppers for most users.

I have no inside information and this is a peer-to-peer forum and so I'd imagine that "someone from Cakewalk" would not address that thread on the specifics.

As you are probably aware, Cakewalk is not the size of Microsoft or Google and so I can only imagine that they have to pick and choose what they can and will work on. Especially if there is a "workaround" for a particular issue.

My experience is that the Bakers are being a bit more attentive to users needs in X3. That is not a slam in any way, just an observation.

I say, sit back and enjoy the ride.

And remember that if anything in that thread is affecting your workflow in particular, be sure to submit a problem report. It's better to duplicate a problem report than it is to assume someone else has already submitted it (unless they have cited a problem report number).

Thanks.  I missed where they announced this.

I have submitted numerous bug reports and feature requests and shared that info here on the forum.  I am not slamming CW at all as they have shown more willingness to address bugs in X3 than for previous versions.  That being said, some significant bugs do remain, and "sitting back to enjoy the ride" is not nearly as effective IME as pointing out problems and following up with requests for status updates.

Some kind of approximation of when wouldn't hurt, though, would it?  Weeks, Months, or Years?

There are still some pretty bad problems with Melodyne as ARA and UAD effects (and other things...), and along with a few tweaks to take lanes and a user-configurable toolbar component, these several fixes could make Sonar X3 finally ready for prime time.

A general estimate of when the new version will be released would be help me to know whether to start some sorts of new projects in X3 or use another daw for the time being, for example.

Cakewalk has never given dates of when things are going to happen for maintenance updates.

Oh... they have... and when they missed it because they didn't want to rush it out half baked all heck broke loose. Now it's policy not to do that anymore.

Or so I've heard.

My educated guess is it'll be sometime between now & X4
