  • Should we expect X3e to fix remaining bugs? If so, when? (p.3)

Hope they fix the timestretch of audio clips bug. That feature is pretty much broken and corrupts the file.

Can you be more specific? I time-stretch clips all the time without problems.

+1. Never had any real problems with time stretching. In fact just did a time compression yesterday in X3d. Took a 95BPM WAV file and compressed it to 100BPM.

That's because you re-scan (or is it reset?) your plugins all the time, roight?

Yes, all problems covering every conceivable scenario will be magically cured via X3E along with scurvy, gout, bubonic plague, failure to launch and the dreaded dry mouth.  The bakers are that good!

I would be happy if they addressed the list of well documented, repeatable bugs that Alex maintains and I already linked to. Not asking for magic or anything unreasonable. Just a fully functional DAW. Why any user would prefer otherwise is a mystery to me.

All DAWs have bugs, I personally think it will be a year or two before all bugs* could be addressed efficiently (total guesswork) unless they have employed an extra developer that just does bugfixing for the next year which is banned from other projects, however I would hope Cake would prioritise the worst bugs to be processed first in full, not just the bugs that are easiest to fix which can be a common trap of agile development (probably why we have all these issues lined up right now in fact), it's not just a stats game. It is best to have a few bugs that are fixed well than lots of half baked bug fixes.

Anyway I'm totally sure Cake understand this...
BTW as far as I'm concerned Sonar is a fully functioning DAW.

* "All bugs" meaning "all visible bugs" as "all bugs" will never be eliminated.

Some kind of approximation of when wouldn't hurt, though, would it?  Weeks, Months, or Years?

My educated guess is it'll be sometime between now & X4

You never know... They skipped releasing ProAudio 9 instead choosing to call it 8.5...

Good Point. The next version should be called Sonar X11.
