  • Should we expect X3e to fix remaining bugs? If so, when? (p.4)

Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk]
There will be an X3e. Hope to have more details soon.

Thanks Andrew, as long as the Playlist Tool is fixed, I will be happy...along with the other 5 of us LOL!!!

I won't hold my breath for any particular fixes. I reported a bug to Cakewalk and they basically said "so what" even though they could easily reproduce it.

No they withdrew your bug John, in error in my view, however it was not a major bug (although that is no excuse). Or made it into a "feature request" or something plain wrong (memory fails me)...  Just because one issue (or indeed many issues) didn't go through QA doesn't mean to say nothing is ever going to happen.

There are plenty of other issues that haven't been withdrawn.
I have also compiled a list of withdrawn bugs which I think Cake should look at again, however I am avoiding arguing about these withdrawn issues right now as this is a distraction from getting the confirmed issues fixed (as we all want Cake to be spending their time bug fixing rather than en mass bug debating).

BTW as far as I'm concerned Sonar is a fully functioning DAW.

+1, in as much as the way I work and USE X3d.

I have NOT yet been inhibited from completing a project from as far back in versions that I can recall.

Even your (CakeAlexS) list does not inhibit me from using SONAR to complete any project I work on.

<edit> and yes I do recognize that others have experienced flaws that have
a) gave them grief in front of clients
b) give them grief to the point of total frustration
c) any other downside you can think of that I have overlooked

Good Point. The next version should be called Sonar X11.

I'd like to see a Sonar Xx myself.... Let's eliminate numbers so we can't complain the new one isn't out yet...

You never know... They skipped releasing ProAudio 9 instead choosing to call it 8.5...

???

I own PA9.

I think Keni meant Sonar not ProAudio 9. Because we did actually have ProAudio 9.

When I split a clip and say time stretch it to 110-150%, the clip will work for a few plays then all of a sudden Sonar will stop playing on that clip in the same exact spot every time. I get a dropout but it's not a latency dropout and when I bounce that clip down, I get an error and it won't finish the bounce. Even undoing the time stretch won't bring it back to normal. It corrupts that clip and the only workaround is to record a new take. This doesn't happen on all time stretched clips but it's a showstopper for me.

Not sure if anybody is able to reproduce this. For starters I would make sure you are running the latest drivers and firmware for your audio interface, run windows update several times, then run full chkdsk on all your hard drives, and perform a defrag for good measure.

Hope they fix the timestretch of audio clips bug. That feature is pretty much broken and corrupts the file.

Can you be more specific? I time-stretch clips all the time without problems.

+1. Never had any real problems with time stretching. In fact just did a time compression yesterday in X3d. Took a 95BPM WAV file and compressed it to 100BPM.
