I'm trying to send Midi Drum (out) track to Session Drummer (in) track - but can't seem to use it as a soft Synth?

Do I need to modify the Session Drummer 3 Properties from the Plug-in Manager to get it to work this way?  I see it is already configured as a Soft Synth, I can though hit the virtual kit and listen to some sounds???  I'm Confused (~)

Thanks In advanceJim

If I understand what you are trying to do, you have midi data on a midi track, and you want to use Session Drummer 3 to play that midi data.

You need to connect the dots between SD3, a midi track, and one or more audio tracks, to be able to hear/record drums with SD3.

Given that you already have the midi data on a midi track, once you have SD3 loaded with the desired kit in the synth rack, you will need to (this is just a simple example):

1.  Insert a stereo track for the drum sounds to be heard.
2.  Set the Input for the audio track for drums to the stereo output from SD3.
3.  Set the Output for the midi track with the drum data to SD3.
4.  Hit Play

Give the above a try and post back,

I'm not sure I understand how you're trying to use SD. Are you trying something else than making drum tracks with SD the standard way?
There should be no need to separately send anything anywhere, as all the needed routings come automatically when inserting soft synth / SD. The only way it can work is (unless you use simple instrument track) with MIDI track with output to SD and an audio track with input from SD.

If you specifically want to use sends for FX purposes or such, the send must be set on the SD audio output track.

Ok Reading through both posts here, provided lots of clues - I got it to work for me..

1. I have Midi track with drum instructions,
2. I send Midi track out to CW TTS Soft Synth (SS) track.
3. The out of the CW TTS SS sends out to SD SS Instrument track.

I can now select a kit from the program in SD and send Midi to it via CW TTS SS..

Still not sure why I need to have the CW TTS in the middle though - its the only way I can get it to work...

That TTS-1 is totally unnecessary there. I can't help wondering a little the logic behind it. It's the SD sounds you want to hear, not General Midi from TTS.
You have two synths in a row. Remove the TTS and do as Robert advises.

Yeah I tried what Robert suggested but didn't seem to work - once I added the CW TTS in between midi and SD, I'm now able to select a kit in SD and works... not sure why what Robert suggested didn't work for me - its what I expected from how the other synths work - SD for me doesn't behave the same as the other SSs??? I'll keep digging though to see why its behaving the way it is for me..

I think we need now a detailed description of how you insert SD.
It's very straightforward procedure, clearly (IMO) described in the help files and tutorial (#4??).

If your trying to use the MIDI files within in Session Drummer you can drag and drop them any where in the project, here is a figure diagram from the help file( i hope CW don't have problem with Copying and pasting this):

Just left click, hold and drag that little bity note icon.

I hope this can help, I prefer Session Drummer myself as opposed to every new fangled attempt at a software drummer( of course that's my opinion).

I have NO idea how in the world you are setting things up - by all means, please detail EXACTLY how you have things set up.
