I would appreciate constructive feedback on this original reggae tune.
My main concern is it's nice but, well, sort of all the same?
How to pump this up?

Hi, MG,

You've got what sounds like a very interesting and cool fusion of Electronica and Reggae here!

Nice vocals and harmonies, the clean guitar sounds good and I really like the tasty little guitar fills throughout.

Very original sounding and it sounds like it was a lot of fun to put together.

Great stuff!

Have a good one!
Bob

Really refreshing and well done !!
Just a thought - if you go for any minor re-editing, try effects equalizer for the vocal track.

I dunno man... For this kind of tune, I think it's fine as it is. I mean, where do you fancy taking it? You could make it some kind of fusion piece perhaps? Reggae Metal? Dunno......

Hi MG
I like it - not sure what you could change other than maybe a breakdown to just a couple of instruments and voice to give it more light and shade?

Darly I think you may have it as far as interest and arrangement goes.  I struggle with cutting out "perfectly good" clips even tho I know less is more.
Thanks for the comments Synkro.
And thanks Audio. Not sure what EQ settings you are suggesting? Are you saying to make the vox more unique? Or to sit better in the mix?

Hello MG,

I was referring to the Audio FX - FX equalizer in Console View. I sometimes tweak it a bit for the vocals to blend further with the rest of the mix or as you said to sit better in the mix. This is just a thought.

It's a cool song! nice and laid back.

Well, for me, the thing that is holding you back here (a little) is the tone on the bass. You might take off the chorus, and even what sounds like a fretless emulation? I think a conventional p-bass type deal might authentically drive the thing more.

I like the theme to "Northern Exposure" and it has this same kind of loopy reggae feel, but reggae and 90's fretless bass is a pretty dated sound these days. And that's coming from a geezer.

But, what the hey, bass tone is part of your vision here and we all make those choices, so pretty much, nevermind! The most important thing is the vocal, and you have a good one here.

cheers,
-Tom

Works here note sure, other than Daryl's suggestion, of what to pump this ups with.  Perhaps give the bass a bigger bottom.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Kane. Do you feel that EQ is better than the Prochannel? I've never used it.

Thanks Tom, Good points, I'll give the bass some thought. Cutting it in the chorus might add good contrast.

Thanks Wookiee, more bottom noted too.
