Oops. 'Insert marker'. 

Theory:  It might be a multiplier effect.  I had the Marker box checked under copy properties, so when I copy/pasted once, it may have doubled the markers.  Then, when I copy/pasted next it quadrupled. You get the picture.   At 8 copy/paste operations this theory would yield 256 duplicates of each marker in the range.  That's about what I'm seeing, but I'll have to test out this theory.  Otherwise I'm baffled what could have caused so many duplicate markers..... 
 

Ok, I verified, indeed the theory holds.  Problem solved, almost....
 
How do I stop the Markers check-box in the copy dialog from initially defaulting to checked??   Once I un-check it during a session it stays that way for the remainder of the session.  However I'd like to not have to remember to always initially un-check it.
