I'm a recent upgrader from X1 essential to X3 Studio, and I've gradually been finding my way around the program on my new pc.
 
One thing I'm a bit confused about is the Gobbler/Sound Cloud function. I found the Share with Soundcloud option, but when I select it, it says there is a missing file and perhaps I'd like to reinstall. Not very much, if I'm honest.  :)
 
I don't recall deselecting anything relevant to this when I installed Sonar, which I bought online from the Cakewalk Store. Do I need to install the Gobbler program separately?

Might be worth it to install Gobbler again.  I find it quite useful to transfer projects back and forth.
 
Not at all sure why your installation is complaining about a missing file.  Hopefully, installing it again would fix that.

Cheers Bob, is Gobbler a separate installation? I don't recall seeing it mentioned and just assumed it was a feature found in X3. Guess not.  :) As i say, I bought X3 studio online from the Cakewalk Store, and just installed the archive I downloaded.  :-/

Gobbler and Sound Cloud are 2 different things. Gobbler is a "cloud drive" for storing data files. It does install an app on your computer that acts as a front end to this "cloud". Sound Cloud is a music hosting site - where you export a mix to so folks can play it and listen to it. This is built into SONAR and you export to Sound Cloud much like you would export to a FLAC or MP3.
 
Edit: I think you just get signup info for Gobbler from Cakewalk - then you get everything else you need directly from them. I did this a while ago, am not near that computer, and am conveying this from memory.
 
As to SoundCloud, if you do not have an audio file open, and try to export it to SoundCloud, you will get an error since as I said, SC is a music streaming site that is expecting an audio file loaded in SONAR that is then mixed down to FLAC/WAV/MP3 and then exported to SoundCloud so the public can listen to it.

Thanlks guys, I eventually spotted the Gobbler link on my Cakewalk account page. Installed now. I will investigate Soundcloud.

I just installed Gobbler on a second computer, which is very nice of them to allow.  I naturally do most of my work in my own studio, but have another computer that I keep at my guitar player's place, and this way I can shoot projects or clips back and forth as needed.

I dropped Gobbler because it was consuming too much CPU (up to 30% at times).  It was too active the whole time and interfering with the performance of Sonar X3.  Intead, I installed a free file synchronization program and back up to SkyDrive. Much less intrusive and half the price of Gobbler.

I agree, and installed Gobbler to another computer, a desktop, that is networked to my laptop which is my SONAR-only computer. When I have used Gobbler (I have a lot of large external HDs and "clouds" are somewhat lost on me but I do maintain a couple just because - as I have forever, except we used to just call "clouds" an FTP site that was in our control) I simply make sure the comps are turned on and visible on the network...but you're correct, as a TSR it is resource hungry.

I only use Gobbler for file transfer, and not for backup/sync.
 
I have a dedicated drive for backups, and I would like to make the NSA work a little harder to sift through my data.  :)
