So my C:\ drive died and I've been in fix it up mode for a week or so. Took the opportunity to upgrade OS (7 -> 8.1) and various and sundry tasks that I'd been wanting to do (240G SSD for C:, 2T for sample libraries; 1T project). Anywho, in looking at my Sonar installation(s) I'm thinking at this point I will only install X3. We'll get to a touch screen in the near future but for now...

So I am curious what my fellow Sonar users think. For me I find I never use previous versions of Sonar (though I do keep a rig available that is running X1 and X2). Other than the ProChannel plugs I don't really use any of the added content (R-Mix, TH2, Breverb, etc). So...

What do you all think?

Many Thanks,

I would just install X3 Producer and see how it goes. Worst case, you may need to install an older version later on or grab a plug-in or two using an advanced install of a previous version if something does not work out.

That's pretty much my thinking too scook. But it never fails to amaze me how someone on this forum may have a different perspective...

You may want the R-Mix from X2 and you may want Pantheon from 8.5. You wont need to install the programs to get them installed.

Install just X3, then go back and install plugins from previous versions only if the need arises.  It's a good way to see what it is you really need rather than what you think you might need but never wind up using anyway.

X2 is better than X1 and X3 is better than X2.

That's my opinion.

Thanks John. In the past I never saw a need, for me, on the R-Mix. Correct me if I'm mistaken but is the Pantheon the 'Lexicon' reverb?
