If you use the right tools with the iPad you can make good quality recordings and easily transfer them to a pc. I have no problem doing this whether it's a scratch track or full on recording of vocals, guitar or some created track of drums, synth piano or other up to 8 track recording

Hey Mudgel... I am having a hard time convincing myself to pull the trigger on an iPad, I want one but am not sure. I am interested in what you said about easily transferring to a PC. Can you easily transfer multitracks or a stereo mix?.. and if you can, how do you do it? Do you just use Garageband or Amplitude Studio, MultiDAW, Audiobus.. what.. I am curious. Which interface do you use? Sorry so many questions but inquiring minds and all...
I have an iRig PRO, Amplitude, etc but have not tried anything past recording to the iPhone. Have not tried any transfer.
Thanks!

Or if someone would make tablets plug and play w/ a desktop all the problems would be gone today.

Here, here.  I'd never pay 400+$ for an iPad, but an easy-connect (cheap) tablet as a wi-fi'd controller to Sonar would be fantastic.  Not some generic controller, but a Sonar front end.

Make a version for Windows 9 coming out April 2015. Metro apps will be midi compatible and having floating windows just like Legacy apps.

639 pounds in the UK for the 128 GB model. You could but a seriously powerful lap top for that money.

I see the iPad akin to the "cross over" vehicles... large enough that you cannot put them in your pocket, yet small enough that their processing power is limited and cannot be expanded... sheesh, with audio, even 128GB is gone quick!

I use the vienna instruments app to control every nuance of my orchestra, records all multitouch midi info. Wouldn't go back to midi sliders ifI tried.... ok just when the i pad battery dies. I also use the mackie control as well. Now my frontier tranzport just collects dust. Used for surfing forums as well. Still using my i7 laptop from Rain (out if business now) to record though. Ipads are very useful thiugh.
