  • fx bin right-click delay/project load times - SOLVED

1)When I right click on a fx bin, there is a noticeable delay before the popup menu appears (3-5 sec). This has been a new but yet constant behavior with X3 Producer. This is true with an empty/new or working project.

2) What appears to be a second issue is when loading projects big or small, it takes about a minute. Otherwise, playback and recording is smooth.

Both of these behaviors used to be faster/snappier.  Wondering if I'm alone in experiencing this or this is normal for all of us. ?

My computer specs: Win 8.1, Q9550 Studiocat Daw, 8 gigs RAM, 3 SATA HDs, TC Impact Twin (ASIO buffer size range: 128 to 512), X3 Producer-64 bit

Drivers are monitored and kept up to date.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave

Questions...

Are you running X3D?
Have you performed a VST reset since installing X3D?
Have you tried this without using a template (looks like you have but just checking), is there any plugins causing this delay?

Otherwise the usual advice to begin with (OK so you've updated your drivers).
Please update your sound interface firmware, run windows update, perform a defrag on your hard drive, install X3D if you haven't.

Cheers...

Since installing Waves I also get a delay with right-clicking.
Hopefully you find the answer to this!

Hey Alex,

Running X3D. I don't remember running a VST Reset with D, but I do remember running a couple of resets with version C (the problem/delay was there too). I'll run a reset again just to be complete.

I still get the same delay problem on a brand new empty project that I just add a track to... BTW - everything is slower with X3. From startup, to loading an empty project to loading a previously saved project. It's click and wait for a noticeable time difference from the past versions of sonar.

Windows update, firmware and audio drivers are all routinely checked and up to date. I defrag every couple of weeks, but that don't seem to help.

What I'm reading between the lines here is this in not a problem for you. I must have plugin conflict somewhere... Time for some housekeeping again.

Another note - I was one of the few that had to download the microsoft c++ distributable to get X3 to work (tried many things but that was the answer at that time). Maybe I should do an uninstall/reinstall of X3.

I have the entire Waves suite, as well as a load of others, and I get instant FX bin response. Do you have the use VST3 option set for the VST2 fx? I would set that VST3 plugin option, reset the VSTs, rescan and see if that helps or not.

No idea what that option is at the moment, but I'll defintely look into it!

I had this very problem yesterday.

I dunno if it's waves-specific, or a general issue, but here's what I tracked it down to: I had a few waves plugins I was trialling, which I've since uninstalled, but the uninstalled plugins were still in my custom plugin layout (albiet greyed out). Getting rid of those entries and re-saving the layout fixed the problem.

I'm going to check these tips out this evening. Hopefully it's a simple fix!
