Thanks, Les.  Hope it all worked out for you.  I had fairly early in our other thread suggested you look at a possible motherboard problem, but I think that kind of got lost in all of the other stuff.
 
Frustration can be quite the hindrance.  :)

thank all you folks for your suggestions and things to check out.  I really appreciate your input on my post.  the 176kHz was just me getting excited over the new interface.  I think back to 88.2kHz is a start in the right direction as well as little adjustment of the I/O.  thanks again.

I would still suggest 44.1 k or 48 k.  Either one would be less taxing and less space.
