I have full version of TH2? Why, because I liked the cut down version and wanted more. That's how it works..

I still often use the default presets that would have come in the cutdown version, pretty darn good value for money.
You get this and the rest of the stuff for $250 (or less). I don't see the complaint.

By the look of the avatar I guess it doesn't have enough goth/death metal sounds for the OP. Maybe strangle a few kats on microphone and you will get what you need.

Lord I know what "the sisters" use, you would laugh...

Not a flame, an opinion :)

Beepster Creep uses TH2 Producer exclusively and I'm pretty sure the studio version has all the same stuff I used. Plenty of metal tones. In fact I kind of got the full version to have access to cleaner tones and the weirder effects.

Hey, leave my ex-girlfriend out of this.

But that was a little offensive Alex. I'm a metal guy... and I would never harm a cat... unless it was trying to eat me or something.

Hi Beepster,

IMO using the TH2 in Studio isn't really cut out to what is in the sales pitch, better to use the full version I would think rather than use it at all - so thinking in this manner means TH2 in Studio simply doesn't cut it hence exist at all, so this is the point.  Same applies for Melodyne Essentials... If you want to use Melodyne, there is not enough of it in the bundle included with Studio to be effective so might as well go buy the editor or the full version rather than using essentials version.  If I were a power user of Sonar the ProChannel stuff wouldn't cut it either in Studio I would think, better off to buy the full version, maybe the only reason to go X3 Producer - the instruments are all available for around $50....

Apols, I've got them sampled now so it doesn't have to happen any more ;)
Who isn't into rock? (Check my link below).

Well... I mean I do like the full TH2 and I'm glad I got but if I wasn't a total guitar freak I certainly wouldn't need it and as I said I was able to get my tones out of the base version. As far as the PC stuff in Studio being incomplete they are the exact same modules you'd get with Producer minus the new Tape Sim and perhaps one other thing I'm not remembering. They are full versions and quite good. I can't comment on Melodyne yet as I haven't used it but my impression is it was merely meant to replace V-Vocal as a pitch correcting which it does and from the sounds of things much better AND does all sorts of other cool stuff. The full version of Melodyne costs almost as much as X3 Studio itself. TH2 is pretty darned pricey too. I was extremely happy that I was able to use the included version to snag it for $99. Wish I had known about all that before I dropped my cash on the GR5 upgrade because I rarely touch it anymore.

So... well I just don't really agree but certainly won't begrudge you your opinion. I just think you may be looking at it from the wrong perspective.

You know I've got full TH2 and I haven't even used Guitar Rig 5 yet (is it better or worse? I guess the answer is no more black).... Presets just go on and on forever and taste is so relative... Well to be more scientific about it... taste is 11.  I would list the 11 presets that are the best, but some people might think they are just 10's. I would have to listen to the sustain a little bit longer for full judgement anyway but there are miniature horses to race ;)

TH2 responds more realistically than GR5. GR5 is great and all but it just doesn't have the true amp feel to it. I found I was endlessly fiddling with it and was catering my playing to the sim to make it sound good. TH2 isn't as good as an amp but it's pretty darned close and a heck of a lot more versatile than the few transistor beaters + crummy mics I've got around here.

They just need to figure out realistic feedback now.
