know its a long story but all computers does the exact same thing. To me it just elliminates mobo, memory, disk or bios problems to know that.

It tells me that your doing the same wrong thing for all 3

The samplerates are different when using Sonar 8 - not when using Sonar 7. The samplerate goes with the project so why does those panels mismatch?

There different, then there ya go buddy. They cant be different. I said all along its a sample rate mismatch. You need the original sample rate at which it was recorded.

For the Fireface I'm pretty sure you can specify a sample rate in the DDS tab. Make sure you don't have any sample rate set there.

EDIT:
Although, it looks like DDS only takes effect when the unit is in Master mode and since yours shows Slave I'm not sure DDS would apply. Anyways you could check it none the less.

Do you have any other program you could check to see if the FF800 works in other then Sonar? That way you may at least be able to rule out hardware problems.

I know. And I also know that when I load a project Sonar set the samplerate on the soundcards according to the project. The picture above shows Sonar setting the samplerate on one of the Firefaces to 96000 and the other to 192000 at the same time. There is no way I can set the samplerate manually and do it different on the 2 FireFaces. This is an 'inside job'.

Im not excluding the fact that I am doing something wrong, Im human after all, but for a year no one not even TS has been able to point at something. Further more I fail to see that 101 minidumps=Crashes=Exception error c0000005 has anything to do with the user. But Im still open to ANY suggestion.
Here is an older thread on the same issue:

DDS is not active and it is used primarily for syncing to external video devices or to pitch everything a little up or a little down to match other instruments in wrong pitch.

I have used Reaper with the FireFaces and it works perfectly just as Sonar 7 does. No problems at all.

From the Fireface 800 website.

""SteadyClock allows the Fireface 800 to control the sample rate freely on its own.
The Settings dialog includes a direct choice of the video and audio world's most often
used sample rates.
Additionally, two faders can be used to set the sample rate freely and in real-time,
within the range of +/- 4% and +/- 0.4%"

To all those who tried to help I say thankyou :-)
To the rest: I just got an e-mail from CW where they recognize the problem, successfully reproduced it and submitted it to Development :-)

My first error report on this was on dec 5. 2008 so it pays to be patient. Or maybe there is a God after all :-)

I have the same problem, but only with old projects. However, every sample rate is grayed out except for 48khz in old or new projects alike. So what else did CW say? That we have to throw away our Sonar 8? I have 8.53.

Thanks for the post.
