Hello,

I have been a forum member for many years.  I do not post a lot, but if I can help I usually will, but most times more knowledgeable members will chime in first.  I read the forum everyday and I gain so much from all of you, that nothing I can say will ever repay you.  Recently I've upgraded to X3, and when I've posted a question, I've received many helpful responses, that I'm ever so thankful for.  Mr. Anderton, when I see a post from you, I go directly for it.  You have helped me a great deal.  The reason for my post, is the removal of "offensive, "Dumb, yada, yada, Hell," post.  As I feel you had every right to pull it, I think your subsequent post explaining yourself, was not necessary, and has also garnered the same results as if you left it untouched.  I feel a man, such as yourself felt guilty being the "censor," so you felt compelled to explain yourself.  I would say that you should, as role of, 'censor," delete your follow up post on the subject.

I look forward to you video's and tutorials.  This is just one man's opinion.

George

I agree an explanation was not needed. However too late now the second thread has taken its course and I don't see anything wrong with the discussion right now, by deleting another thread you risk having to justify doing this a second time. In fact the very act of creating this thread has now extended the conversation even further, so should this be deleted as well? So now we have two threads on the same issue... I would merge them.

Personally I think threads should generally be frozen not deleted. Moved to coffeehouse or something if they get really bad quickly before it gets out of hand and ends up as law of the jungle...

And then it's the law of the coffeehouse?

It's not that people can't get a joke, it's that people don't understand that someone is making a joke. They don't need to laugh at it- just let it go and read something else.

Having said that.....people were offended and I think Anderton did the right thing. he made one crucial error. He should have locked his new thread after the first post. or send it to the CH :) Just joking bapu.

Schultz:"Col. Hogan, if you ever escape...."
Hogan:"Yeah?"
Schultz:"Be a good fellow, and take me with you."

One thing I've learned from deleting threads in forums is there will inevitably be "Where did the thread go"? threads that expect an answer. If they're not answered, and if you delete THOSE threads, then there are more "Where did the threads go?" threads that also expect answers. I've been doing forums since 1995 and found there is no ideal solution, only a variety of less-than-desirable solutions. What I usually do is give a pre-emptive answer, which is what I did here.

The other thread will wear itself out soon, as will this one, and the discussion will have illustrated where some of the boundaries lie so it would not have been totally without value.
