My i7 920 sonor 8.5 (latest version) 64 bit with Windows 7 started making a burst noise when I hit play and drops out with 6 audio tracks 48/16 and 3 kontackt 3.5 tracks , 1 SSD and 1 Dem Pro. My cpu is around 20% and I just added 6 more gigs of ram (totaling 12) hoping that it would help. tried increasing buffers and increasing the asio for my echo Layla 24. with the lattest drivers. My cpu multi meter shows 8 threads and the first thread is hi with the rest bearly showing anything. HD meter is 1 to 2 %. This shouldnt be happening.. Any advice would be great.

Thank You,
Scott

Not sure exactly what is causing the noise. Does the noise happen if the synths are frozen?
The tweak thread may help balance the load across your processor

I have tried freezing the synths. Thanks for your reply. I'll check out the tweak thread.

Thanks,

Make sure the Layla is the only soundcard selected in Sonar (with an "a"). What other plug-ins are you using?

Perhaps it's not a software problem. Maybe it's time to replace the interface? I'd pop out the PCi card first and re-seat it, though.

daveny5, The plugs are 3 tracks of Kontakt 3.5 , 1 Dem Pro, 1 SSD4 (latest version)
and I forgot to say above 1 Absynth and 6 audio tracks. The noise is like a static burst that lasts a split second
when I hit play and only does it sometimes and after I have been running the session for awhile. The longer I go the worse it gets. I can leave the session and reboot and everythings fine for awhile.. Also this is my only sound card and windows and MB sounds are dissabled..

Bitflipper, I have no problems with smaller sessions (only using a couple VST's, mostly audio) thats why I thought it might be a ram thing since this session has alot more VST's then normal but I will try reseating the PCI card.

scook, havn't had time to do those tweaks yet, will let you know if I fix it.

HAPPY 4th EVERYONE!!!
and thanks for your response,

Scott
