  • [Solved] Melodyne and Buffer Size (sigh)

I'm still getting that dialog whenever I apply Melodyne to a track/clip, the one saying my buffer sizes are too small.

Could someone please tell me exactly where in Preferences these buffer size settings are? I've already tried several places where I thought they'd be, but obviously I'm not finding them.

Thanks, Conley. In hindsight, I suppose I should have done a search of the forum before posting. I'd only ever researched this on the Celemony forum; why? I just don't know.

Anyway, problem solved. Ignore the warning and carry on and perhaps one day a Melodyne update will give us the option of turning off this particular warning. That'd be cool.

NP, but the forum search does not always work. This new forum software has some bugs too. I am glad to help when I can as well as complain about things that don't work. ;)

The most annoying part to me is that if you forget to click it away (for instance because you had a window still open in the multidock when saving, and then you reloaded the project) and open a new instance next to it, you'll get all kinds of weird behavior. Took me a while to figure out what the problem was.

I have to set ASIO to 1024 samples when using Melodyne but there is no way to track at that setting because of latency (delay); consequently, I reset that all the time.

Sometimes, I lose audio when going from 1024 to a smaller number for tracking and have to reboot--but not always.

Ah, so it's ASIO buffers that need to be at 1024. I was searching everywhere else but.

But now that I know the warning can be ignored, I feel much better. I had been ignoring it, just not feeling very safe doing so. Much better now.

Thanks Guitarmech111, Sanderexpander and konradh for the replies.

1) I am pretty sure the "buffer" is I/O buffer  (Advanced Mode: Preferences->Audio->Synch and Caching (the disc read/writes to smooth ARA performance)) and not Audio buffer. I remember early on I jacked my ASIO buffer through the roof and still got that warning... but if you set I/O buffers to 1024 that warning goes away (just verified this actually).
2) Someone involved in the beta testing chimed in on a thread (I wish I could give them credit), and said that was implemented as a short-term fix and was resolved in a later build of Melodyne (i.e. no longer applicable), but is still encoded into the program.
3) Bottom line, can blow this warning off unless you see issues, but be wary about that warning dialogue causing issues like in #5 above.

I get that warning but simply close it and it doesn't pop up again or interfere with the operation of the DAW.

I'm still using X1e so maybe there is no update for me....
