Quick Q:

I do not know what constitutes streaming vs. memory. I know this is an easy question and I confess to being a really old dummy.

I've read in these forums how to setup three drives: one for the OS, one for the projects and one for streaming audio.

I have two drives but I don't know if I need a 3rd drive. I've also read here that all of Sonar loads into memory, so it all goes on the C: drive with the OS. So I don't need to move anything over from Perfect Space or Session Drummer?

How about EZ Drummer or EZ Keys?

I don't have Kontact or East West libraries or anything like that (most everything I have is listed in my signature) so I suspect I am not in need of a 3rd drive since all is loaded into memory and there are no streaming samples?

How does one know?

If you own a product that has a streaming option, it will be in the product documentation. No Cakewalk products using streaming samples. EZ Drummer or EZ Keys do not stream. Of the vendors in the .sig some Garritan products can stream and Toontrack Superior Drummer has a "cache mode" which defers loading samples.

Got it scook and thanks!

I'll check the Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 documentation.

Is an external drive (USB 2, 7200 rpm) OK for streaming samples?

USB2 external drives should only be used for backup. IIRC Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 does not stream.
