For years I've been using CWENC as my mp3 encoder. I've recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and can't seem to get it working in Sonar X3d Producer. Anyone have any suggestions?

It is working here in 8.1 - try re-installing the MP3 activation .exe

Are you using CWENC or the Cakewalk encoder that needs to be activated?

I'm not getting much luck with the CWENC encoder. Just getting a hissssss sound from what it encodes. Anyone out there using the LAME encoder. If so, how do you set it up? Or if there's something that you particularly like. Let me know.

Hmmm, just tried the mp3 encoder in X3d that's there and didn't get any sign that it needs to be activated. Is it included now in X3d?

If you installed SONAR in the last 30 days, it could be running the trial version. There is still a one-time activation fee to use the integrated encoder.

I use Lame and it works great.

I just drag the wave files to a Lame batch file and it does the conversion.

The MP3s sound at least as good as the best MP3 generation algorithms I've heard in other apps.
