I'm pretty much in the same boat of trying to decide if it is worth doing the upgrade.
I've had a few crap experiences when it's come to upgrading in the past and am hesitant to do so again. (still have some songs which won't load up the synth's used in the project, even when replacing the synth in synth rack)
The discount is tasty but I just can't make my mind up.

Also I really could do with a new hard drive and giving the studio pc an overhaul, she's getting a bit to loud n noisy with the small fans, so some DIY may be in order.

I'm having trouble seeing what is it you get with X3producer?

Like this is something you have to pay extra for right?

Nomad Factory Blue Tubes FX

Classic analog for your digital studio.

The Studio Mixing Suite includes a stunning set of 19 different dynamic, EQ, and effects processors from Nomad Factory. This suite is influenced by vintage style gear that dominated the legendary analog studios where classic tracks were born.
There is a module for every situation in this bundle. You can load up the Dual Phaser, Dual Chorus, Oilcan Echo, or the 3D Tempo Delay and never have to touch your pedal board again. Sculpt and shape your mixes with 1 or all 6 of the supplied parametric, graphic, or programmable EQs and then apply one of our dynamics processors to keep your levels under control and glued together.

Thanks

This is what you get in  Sonar X3 producer (far right column).  You don't have to pay anything extra for any of these things in producer.  YOu will have to download and install a couple of things separately.  And to answer your specific question the Nomad bundle comes with Producer.

I didn't like the fact that X3 came out just over a year after X2.

But with the new plugs, I'm glad I did it.   I re-installed everything to 64 bit and I stopped using many old plugs.  I hope I'm good for at least 2 years now.

Hello Guys:

Just popped back in to check on this thread and was delighted at the replies.  Many, many thanks to everyone.  My favorite comment was offered by CowboyDan: "Everyone has their own reasons for using X3 or deciding to use X3. As far as I'm concerned you will either get X3 or not even after you read all the comments here.
Either go for it or dont go for it. It's your life".
Very existential!!

Thanks!!

Thanks, I've read what they say comes with it, it says:

Vintage FX and Reverb from Nomad Factory

So two or several plug ins? not the suite of 19 plug ins?

All of that is detailed in the link I provided above. It shows a side by side comparison of what is included in both versions.

Hi Guys:

I'm running X2 on Windows 7 and am quite happy with it, but I'm very tempted to upgrade to X3.  So, talk me into it (or out of it as the case may be).  Is it a good step or not?

Don't know which version/upgrade you are talking about, so hard to say, but as a rule of thumb, if you're not seeing enough to make whatever upgrade cost worthwhile to you now, I would give it 6 months and wait for the sales.

Because its prettier! Like Wayne said, TRACK COLORS, man!

I can't remember when the interface started becoming darker but I remember having a whinge about the loss of pretty colors a while back. I'm glad they're back
