Hey all,
I'm hoping someone can tell me where I can find information on what an A or N or S type project template is and what's the difference between them...

I'd like a resource (or explanation) that's faily comprehensive...I've even bought a couple of Sonar video courses, but so much of Sonar is just breifly mentioned with absolutely NO in-depth elaboration...and some topics never even touch on. Moreover, what should be critical information in the Preferences isn't explained at all...quite frustrating actually...but I digress, sorry!

...A or N or S type project template info...anybody!

Thanks!

I believe the A is a reference to an API type sound, S to SSL and N to a Neve.

That's what I thought too. In which case that's just settings on the respective ProChannel modules. Sheesh you could even mix and match them. I would, just to hear the differences.

Okay, I'm not an audiofile, so saying "API, SSL and Neve" leaves me back where I started...what is API? What is SSL? What is Neve? Where can I find out about these types?

They are emulations of different brands of mixing consoles:

A-Type is an emulation of API type consoles
N-Type is an emulation of Neve type consoles
S-Type is an emulation of SSL type consoles

The templates are preconfigured set ups for new projects and use the type of pro channel console emulators specified in the name of the template.

Yeah, if you don't know then I wouldn't worry about it. Try the switches as needed to see if you like the sound difference and go from there. Trust your ears!
