So, I disabled the O key to prevent unintentional entries into Offset mode; however, now I want to enter Offset mode quickly just to ensure that there are no offsets in a project; that is, to ensure all faders are at 0 in offset mode.  The Sonar help does not indicate any way to get into Offset mode except for the shortcut key.

Where might I find a menu option to get into Offset mode?

Thanks.

Apparently there's an Offset Mode toolbar button in the "Mix" module.

There is but that is new in X3 IIRC. I believe Konrad is using X1.

As to the question, not that I know of. The only thing I can think of is to set up another keyboard shortcut but with something a little harder to press accidentally than "O".

I don't have X3, so it's not as new as you thought.

I've just checked the Sonar 7 manual and I found it there too.  It's one of those buttons you never notice and never use.

Sorry my mistake. I could have sworn that was a feature introduced or reintroduced recently. My memory is shot obviously.

It must be a slightly different location then, because the Control Bar didn't exist prior to X1.

It was in the Automation toolbar in Sonar 7.

Ah.. there ya go!   So the icon itself has been around for a while, it's just a matter of figuring out where in X1 it is... assuming it is in the Control Bar as in X2 and X3:

Apologies again for all the time I have taken from you fine folks on my automation woes.   Since we are talking, however, in the Mix module in my Control Bar I see Mute, Solo (and its modes), Echo, Read, Write, PDC (delay comp), and FX (toggle all effects off/on).

What does this elusive Offset tool look like?

AND BY THE WAY, one thing Cakewalk really needs to fix is to ensure they include pictures of tools.  I can't tell you how many times I have seen something in the help like, "Click the Track Morphing Tool" with no description, picture, or location.

I'm telling you, believe me or not, the Offset function is screwed up.

Opened a different project.
• Went into Offset mode to ensure I did NOT have any Offsets before I began final mix.
• Some of the tracks showed the + indicating Offset; some did not.
• If there is no offset, the fader should go to zero.  Many did, but some went to -INF.
• I had to go through track by track, setting every fader to 0 in Offset mode; but sometimes I had to go through this procedure more than once for a given track—the tracks that had neither the + nor the segmented line that indicates normal mode.

NOte that I have an mp3 and wav export of the project in question; but when I opened the project, the mix sounded ridiculous.  This happens to me all the time.  I promise you, there is something majorly screwed up.
