  • What is a .1 file?

I went to export audio as a 24 bit 44.1 .wav file

It showed up as a .1 file (?) and when I went to import it into a new Sonar project, it didn't show up in the folder it was in.

Also, it automatically it exports 2 files, one as -------none------1 and right below that as ASIO Lynx Lynx AES16 Play 01- 2

Any ideas?

avoid using "." in project and exported file names. Only use "." between the name and the extension. Use a space, dash or underscore instead.

Google what it is for answer.
There's no way it would be an export option. I think you just lost track of where your wave file went.
Or you somehow over typed the WAV. extension  and didn't notice.

I don't think that a .1 is a valid file. You must have accidentally changed the file extension. Either try exporting it again and make sure you are exporting as a wave file or you could rename the existing .1 file to a .wav and see if it will import

I don't use "." in file names, although I suppose it isn't completely impossible there was a typo.

But why does it automatically export 2 files? I don't recall it doing that before.

I just exported 2 audio files to desktop as acc16 and acc24 (acc is an abbreviation for the song name)
No dots or other symbols. The only thing I ever change when exporting audio is go to the dropdown menus for source category and sample rate.

Why is it

It seems that .1 is a valid file, which plays on WMP on the second try, after initially not being recognized. I've never heard of it before, myself.

Why is Sonar now by default creating 2 files for export, one which is assigned to my sound card and DAC, the other of which is silent?

Someone mentioned a free picture hosting site they found useful for this site but I forgot what it is (photobucket stopped its forum hosting function). Maybe it would be helpful if I could post screen captures.

Google say's a .1 file is Page page one of a PDF file or document.

Anyhow does it do this every time?  Or just once this happened.

And I've never had Sonar export anything other than what I told it to export.
I pretty much have always used the default settings with the only thing I change being 32 to 16 bit.

If all I do is select "Main outputs" and 16 bit, this is what I see:

I've been using Sonar since Sonar 6 and I always choose source as main outputs. Other than that, all I change is the bitrate and sometimes 'audible bounce'.

The '.1' filename extension seems to be a one time thing but now I can't export audio without it automatically creating 2 files, one which works and one which doesn't. I'm pretty sure it takes about twice as long to do this.

In your screenshot you have "none" selected along with the Lynx (highlighted in blue). Only the Lynx should be selected.

I see. So the question now is, why does it default to both now?
I never had to address that before. All I ever did in the past was select "main outputs" as the source and select the bitrate.

It's not a big deal, It just seems odd that that should suddenly start happening.
